If so, we have a great opportunity for a Group Finance Analyst.

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive individual to join the finance team at Oyster Yachts. The role will be to support the Group Finance Director in the analysis and reporting for the Group.

The Group Finance Analyst will be based in Southampton and will report directly to the Group Finance Director.

Oyster has a worldwide reputation as a leading builder of quality cruising yachts and has a global footprint through its sales, offices and activities. The business produces yachts from its UK sites, in Southampton and Norfolk and has support offices in Palma Mallorca and the US.  The business provides full life support with refit, after sales and technical support together with new and used yacht sales. 

Purpose of Role

To undertake in depth financial analysis, business/scenario modelling and forecasting to drive value across the business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake detailed financial analysis across the various revenue streams of the business and analysis of the associated costs.
  • Drill into the analysis, discuss with teams across the business, and present the findings of the analysis: enabling the business to make commercial and strategic decisions based on sound analytical evidence to drive increased revenue, control cost, improve margins and create shareholder value.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to fully understand non-financial KPIs which drive financial performance.
  • Maintain and update the group forecast financial model used for budgeting and reforecasting. Involvement in the budget setting and reforecasting cycles and monitoring with respective budget holders within the business.
  • Support the Group Finance Director with other ad hoc projects/business planning scenarios.
  • Produce KPI pack for board meetings and provide insightful commentary to understand trends and impact to budget.
  • Produce R&D tax information for year-end reclaim/submission.
  • Help to design and improve various processes (financial & non-financial) across the business streams to improve communication and efficiency across teams.

The Person


  • Fully Qualified ACA, ACCA, CA or similar
  • Strong analytical skills – experience in financial due diligence/commercially focused financial analysis
  • Strong commercial business acumen – ability to get under the skin of the business and understand its key drivers
  • Strong communication skills - will need to regularly converse with stakeholders across the business
  • A self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and ability to own and deliver projects
  • Advanced Excel skills – including ability to present complex data in a clear and concise way using charts/other visual methods (e.g. for use in Board packs) and to non-financial users of the outputs
  • Ability to work as a team and under pressure


  • Experience of the manufacturing and/or marine sector
  • Experience with Visual Basic Application (VBA)
  • Knowledge of R&D tax credits
