Every Oyster is specified well-beyond normal requirements so the single skin hulls are extremely robust, giving you peace of mind in any conditions – from extreme cold to tropical heat or heavy weather. The journey to become an Oyster owner begins in many different ways. For some it starts as a childhood dream, for others, it’s the culmination of years of research that leads them to conclude there is no other choice but an Oyster. But for all those investing in a new Oyster the delights of ownership start the minute you begin her build. A key part of owning your Oyster is understanding the craftsmanship and attention to detail that go into her, and the insights you pick up through the build and handover process. Being part of this adds to the deep sense of ownership you will feel when you step aboard for the first time. To ensure this experience is something you will savour and cherish, we assign one of experienced project managers to guide you on every step of the way.
Our Project Managers are all experienced sailors who will help you turn your hopes, plans and dreams of adventure into reality, from the initial moulding of the hull to handover. Their practical experience has been gained from thousands of sailing miles (many have circumnavigated), previous builds and a deep knowledge of Oyster. Your Project Manager will be there throughout the build, offering advice on all aspects of the process along the way to make sure your boat is beyond expectation when she is handed over to you.
Your Project Manager will take time to get to know you and understand your plans – what you want to do with your yacht, where you would like to sail her and what is most important to you in terms of finish and equipment. They will then bring all your requirements together and guide you through the selection of the appropriate options and equipment to meet your needs.
A big part of the build for owners is regular yard visits (in person or online) so you can see her at key points during the build. Owning an Oyster is made richer by understanding the craftsmanship and attention to detail that go into them. These yard visits help you do just that – they are a great opportunity to meet our master craftspeople, see their skills in action and understand all aspects of construction of your yacht for complete peace of mind. Throughout we will keep you up-to-date and make sure you have all the information you need to make decisions at the right time.
On completion your yacht will be handed over to our commissioning team. This process takes six to eight weeks with an extreme attention to detail to meet the most exacting standards and ensure everything is perfect when you take ownership. This is followed by a week-long handover, when the team will introduce you to your yacht to literally show you the ropes. You will learn how to use each piece of equipment and technology you have specified, so you will set sail with complete confidence on your first Oyster adventure.
