Now Oyster has followed that milestone launch with the announcement of a significant new model – the Oyster 805. Sitting between the 745 and the 885 Series II, the 805 brings superyacht inspiration to a model that boasts bluewater aspirations while neatly sliding in just under the 24-metre European seagrass regulations, meaning she can still enjoy unfettered access to those fave Med anchorages.
The hull comes from the boards of longstanding Oyster partners Humphreys Yacht Design, with father-and-son team Rob and Tom Humphreys ensuring the new 805 retains the signature Oyster line – and the signature bluewater performance-cruising capabilities.
“The Oyster 805 has been an exciting design to develop, moving the performance profile upwards while conceding nothing in terms of Oyster’s core bluewater values of safety, seakindliness and comfort,” they say.
"The latter part of that formula is ingrained in our culture with over 100 HYD Oysters now having successfully completed circumnavigations, and it is with respect to this provenance that we have taken the 805 forward.”
Notable are the three sets of vertical Seascape windows in the hull, which deliver light and wonderful waterline views to the aft master suite, guest cabins and saloon. The interiors will, of course, be beautifully crafted, and the 805’s superyacht psyche is reflected not only in the opportunities for customisation in finish, but also in the array of interior layout options the Oyster team has already created.
These include configuring the four ensuite cabins to create a gym, a private library, cosy snug or a dedicated office, perhaps extending the aft master into the port aft guest cabin to create a true haven of tranquillity. Moreover, the saloon can be configured to include a day bar, giving access to sundowners away from the galley.
A sunken foredeck tender well doubles as a relaxing chill zone up top, while aft, the centre cockpit gets an integrated daybed and a fixed, solar-powered ‘starlight bimini’, perfect for shaded sojourns and alfresco dining. There are coaming wing seats next to the helms, and twin stairs lead down to the bathing platform.
Sail area with 105 percent foretriangle is 345.75 square metres on a mast with an air draft of 37 metres. The 805 comes in at 25.28 metres LOA, with a hull length of 23.95 metres. Two keel options are offered, with the deeper fin at 3.42 metres and the optional shoal keel reducing that to 2.67 metres.
Central to the systems will be Oyster Command, the brand’s CZone-managed digital switching system that offers control via a touchscreen or Oyster App. Advanced connection options will also ensure entertainment (or, god forbid, work) anywhere in the world.
“The announcement of the Oyster 805 heralds a new era for our fleet of luxury bluewater sailing yachts,” says Ashley Highfield, CEO of Oyster Yachts.
“She combines our classic styling with superyacht thinking and innovation into an 80-foot yacht, while delivering everything Oyster stands for: strength of construction, world-class craftsmanship, elegance, and the confidence to explore the world backed by our unrivalled global support services. We are incredibly proud of the work that has gone into all elements of this new model, and look forward to seeing her on the water in the future.”
Adds Oyster Yachts owner and chairman Richard Hadida: “The Oyster 805 is the yacht I dreamed of when I took the helm at Oyster – she’s striking, luxurious, and built to take you anywhere. I’m proud of what she represents – the next generation of Oyster.”
The Oyster 805 will be built to order, with construction estimated to take 26 months. The first hull is expected to be completed in 2027.
