OVERVIEW
The Rob Humphreys-designed replacement for the Oyster 45/47, the 46 carries her beam aft, enhancing downwind stability and permitting a much larger owner’s stateroom. Her longer waterline, wider beam and bigger rig add up to a significant improvement in performance.
Her large centre cockpit benefits from the extra beam and lessons learnt from ergonomic studies and years of sailing experience. Good headroom throughout with a three-cabin accommodation layout, which allows six to sleep in comfort, without recourse to the saloon. Twenty-nine 46s were launched between 2005 and 2012, when the design was further tweaked to create the 475.
