WHAT WE SAY

NEW LISTING

The Oyster 56 is celebrated as one of Oyster’s most iconic and successful designs, admired around the world for its perfect blend of speed, safety, and effortless handling. She is large enough to cross oceans with ease and confidence, yet cleverly designed so that a couple or family can manage her without professional crew. Built to Oyster’s uncompromising standards with a robust GRP hull, skeg-hung rudder, and an ergonomically designed cockpit, the 56 has earned her reputation as a proven world cruiser — powerful, capable, and always a pleasure to sail.

Oyster Bay is a desirable late-model G5 version, cutter-rigged and equipped with in-mast electric furling for both mainsail and genoa, allowing push-button control from the safety of the cockpit. With her standing rigging replaced in 2023, she offers total confidence at sea.

Her owners have invested in thoughtful upgrades that enhance comfort, style, and independence. These include a new bimini with integrated solar panels for sustainable energy, fresh Permateak decking to the foredeck for a modern and low-maintenance finish, and a complete new on-deck cushion set to ensure luxurious comfort while cruising or at anchor.

Below decks, Oyster Bay offers a versatile layout with six berths across three cabins, plus a fourth cabin currently converted into a practical workshop that can easily revert to a twin if desired. Finished in rich teak joinery with warm tones, her interior exudes timeless elegance and sophistication, while the new upholstery and covers add a fresh, modern feel. She is exceptionally well equipped for liveaboard comfort, ensuring both practicality and entertainment at sea.

Currently lying in Turkey, at the heart of one of the Mediterranean’s most spectacular cruising grounds, Oyster Bay presents an outstanding opportunity for her next owners. Early viewing is strongly recommended.

MANUFACTURER'S COMMENTS

The quintessential Oyster and undisputed class leader at this size, the 56 is also our most successful model, with seventy-five launched between 1998 and 2010. Rob Humphreys designed the 56 to be large enough for rapid ocean cruising and to accommodate her crew in comfort and style when living aboard, but also to be small and agile enough to be handled by a couple.

The 56 was the first yacht with an ergonomically designed cockpit, the result of working with Loughborough University's Ergonomics department, making relaxing and entertaining a true pleasure, whilst maintaining all the essential qualities you expect from a serious seagoing yacht. She’s a proven performer with class wins in the ARC, and also winning Cruising Class 1 at Antigua Sailing Week, beating a number of more serious racing competitors.
