2017-19 Oyster World Rally

On 15th January 2017, 31 yachts left Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua, on the 2017-2019 Oyster World Rally, this time for a 27 month fully-supported voyage around the globe.

The route took the Oyster fleet across three oceans to the world’s most beautiful sailing grounds, making the most of favourable weather patterns and with almost limitless time for breakaway cruising and inland exploration.

The Oyster support team met the fleet at every destination, easing the way for everything from mooring and provisioning to clearing in and out of ports. They were also there to help with maintenance advice, technical support, spares, as well as sharing their local knowledge and introducing well-connected local people. All the shared adventures the fleet enjoyed created a great sense of community – built over SSB radio at sea and cemented over sundowners in harbour, while relaxing or making ready for the next passage. There were some legendary parties too…

As well as the opportunity to experience this adventure of a lifetime, the people who took part had the reassurance of safety in numbers whilst still maintaining their freedom to roam.
