The first Oyster World Rally route sailed from the Caribbean to the Galapagos via the Panama Canal, and then on to the Marquesas, French Polynesia, Vanuatu and Australia, before continuing up through the Barrier Reef to Indonesia, Cocos Islands and stopping in Cape Town for Christmas 2013. Heading back into the Atlantic, the fleet called at St Helena, Ascension Island and Salvador on the coast of Brazil, before sailing back to Antigua in April 2014.
The two years of preparation put into the rally meant the event was a huge success. Not only did 28 Oyster owners become circumnavigators, news of the rally spread, sowing the seeds for the second edition in 2017.
