One of the many benefits of owning an Oyster Yacht is the opportunity to join the Oyster World Rally. With over 100 circumnavigations, the only way to experience a round-the-world voyage is on an Oyster. There are many variables, from the weather to equipment, food and sleep, all of which contribute to a successful voyage. But one thing that can make all the difference – an expert, happy and harmonious sailing crew. Do you have what it takes to be part of this life-changing adventure?
FAQS
Many people join the Oyster World Rally with the idea of taking a long term, professional crew with them for the whole incredible 27,000 nm trip. Their search for crew usually starts up to 18 months before they set sail. Finding the right crew takes time and experience – Charlie Durham at Oyster Crew has helped many skippers find the right match. If they already own an Oyster, they can try out a new crew through the season before the rally starts to make sure it is a good fit for all.
You must have sailing experience even if you are applying as unpaid crew. A positive, easy-going nature, the ability to fit in and adapt to living and working in a small space with others for long periods is a must – there is no room for egos on board. All our yachts need fit and healthy crew who can stand a watch and have experience of longer, overnight sailing passages. You will need to be adaptable and happy to help wherever needed on board. Passionate, experienced sailors with good yacht engineering experience or who are natural mechanics get snapped up quickly by these owner/captained yachts. Sailors with good yachting experience and cooking skills are also much appreciated as part of any crew.
If you want to join the rally in a professional capacity, you can visit the Oyster Crew Jobs board advertising the latest positions available on Oyster Yachts worldwide, including World Rally opportunities. While you are there, you can register with Oyster Crew (tick the ‘rally interest’ box) and you can also send your CV and introductory letters to Charlie – [email protected].

In August/September, as the start of the Oyster World Rally gets closer, we launch a Crew CV webpage with exclusive access for all the rally participants. Owners can see at a glance who is available (professional and voluntary) and can contact the crew directly. This page is available to participants for the duration of the World Rally as there is often a need for extra crews or crew changes along the way. If you wish to feature on this CV rally page, please contact [email protected] for more information.
