Tonga

The Kingdom of Tonga is known as the ‘Friendly Islands’ – the warm welcome you will receive there will leave you in no doubt as to why it has gained this nickname.

Unique amongst Pacific Island nations, Tonga has never been ruled by a foreign power and has maintained control of its own culture and laws. Protected by lagoons and limestone cliffs, the principal island is Tongatapu. You can visit the capital of Nuku'alofa or escape to the many beach resorts and plantations. Make sure to visit the Ha'amonga ʻa Maui, a monumental coral gate, known as the Stonehenge of the Pacific. Slip easily into the relaxed lifestyle of the islands, with its laidback pace and welcoming people. The waters around the islands are teeming with sea life, perfect for scuba diving and the white sand beaches seem to go on for ever.
