Las Palmas

Capital of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas is a major cruise-ship port. Renowned for its sandy beaches and duty-free shopping, it is a much-loved holiday destination. For swimmers and snorkellers, Playa de Las Canteras has a beautiful coral barrier that runs alongside the beach.

Every year, the Carnival offers outrageously-costumed performers, eclectic music and the chance to dance, dance, dance. Las Palmas is also the gathering point for yachts joining the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) each November. This includes many Oyster yachts and is often the first long-distance ocean passage owners have taken on. The Oyster Technical Support team visit the fleet for complimentary health checks to ensure the yachts are in the best shape possible for their transatlantic crossing.
