Widely admired for her graceful sheer line, traditional overhangs and moderate freeboard, the Oyster 485 has long been regarded as one of the prettiest Holman and Pye designs.
Out on the Blue has had just two owners, the first circumnavigated, and the second, who bought her through Oyster Brokerage in 2005, also completed a circumnavigation of just under five years in duration. This 485 has a simple sloop rig with in-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa, making her easy to handle for a shorthanded crew.
She sleeps six in three cabins, with light oak joinery giving a light and airy feel. Now lying afloat in Ipswich, Out on the Blue is available for viewing at any convenient time.
Dan joined Oyster’s Newport office in 2011 following a career with a leading international brokerage. Prior to coming ashore he held various positions aboard, starting in 2003 and culminating with his captaincy of S/Y Argo, a 110’ Langan Design Schooner. While at sea, Dan completed crossings of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, and accumulated over 50,000 miles of blue-water cruising experience, including extensive landfalls and oversight of several major refits. Dan is married with a young son and resides in Jamestown, Rhode Island.CONTACT ME
