Oyster Newport, Rhode Island, USA
Designed by Holman & Pye to the remit of Oyster Yachts for a safe, fast blue water cruising yacht capable of being sailed short-handed.
There have been almost 50 examples of the Oyster 53/55 built, earlier vessels were built as Oyster 53s and the transom later extended. ‘Miss Molly’ features a teak interior, recently varnished floorboards and new upholstery.
The boat is in good condition down below but will require from a buyer some TLC above decks and below the waterline.
Oyster 55 successes include twice top points scoring boat in Antigua Race week, ARC class wins, Europa Rally successes and the single most prolific boat choice for the Trade Wind Round the World Rally with seven boats taking part.
Dan joined Oyster’s Newport office in 2011 following a career with a leading international brokerage. Prior to coming ashore he held various positions aboard, starting in 2003 and culminating with his captaincy of S/Y Argo, a 110’ Langan Design Schooner. While at sea, Dan completed crossings of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, and accumulated over 50,000 miles of blue-water cruising experience, including extensive landfalls and oversight of several major refits. Dan is married with a young son and resides in Jamestown, Rhode Island.CONTACT ME
