The Oyster 54 was first launched in 2008 as a replacement for the Oyster 53. Rob Humphreys drew the 54 with a longer waterline, more volume aft, and a larger rig to allow for better performance than her predecessor, without compromising her credentials as a bluewater cruiser. Attention was paid to the cockpit, which is considerably more spacious than the 53 and allows up to six adults to sit in comfort.

The hull styling was also updated, the hull meets the deck with a rollover bulwark giving a clean contemporary look whilst allowing the mooring cleats to be moved outboard. Down below the 54 offers a three-cabin layout with aft owner’s stateroom and en suite, and a guest double and twin cabin forward. Generous beam and headroom give a feeling of light and space normally achieved in larger yachts.

The 54 is a sleek and attractive yacht that remains easy to handle for a couple, or family crew. We launched twenty-one 54s between 2008 and 2013, and they remain in high demand on the brokerage market.

Blue Bayou has been in her current ownership for seven years, cruising Mediterranean and UK waters. She is cutter rigged with electric in-mast and genoa furling, offering an easily handled and versatile offshore sail plan. She has the popular three-cabin layout and sleeps up to six, without using the saloon. The joinery is hand finished in teak.
A recent refit in 2018, which included new standing rigging, sails and canvas work combined with very low engine and generator hours, make her an attractive proposition.

With VAT paid in the UK, Blue Bayou would be a great choice for anyone looking for a family yacht, as capable of local cruising as she would be of a circumnavigation.
