We are proud to announce the successful opening of our brand new in-house moulding facility, certified by Lloyd's Register. The site will give our team complete quality control over every aspect of our new sailing yachts, with Oyster becoming the only British builder of cruising yachts to immediately carry Lloyd's Register EMEA safety accreditation upon completion.
The moulding facility opened on the 27th November 2018 and will provide a further 23 high-skill jobs for the local area. It already has the capacity to produce four hulls at any one time, with the ability to expand further and meet increasing demand as needed.
The moulding facility marks a new milestone in our Oyster Story, with Lloyd's Register representing an industry-leading mark of safety and build quality. A Lloyd's Register surveyor will inspect all yachts in production once a week as part of this process, further enhancing and illustrating the quality of Oyster yachts.
This strategic partnership with Lloyd's Register was first agreed in June of this year and exemplifies our commitment to safety and to the Wroxham area.
The first yacht to receive its hull from the moulding facility is already in-build and is expected to complete in February 2019, whilst the first Lloyd's Register-approved hull will be completed in March.
Speaking of his excitement about the new site, Oyster CEO Richard Hadida said:
“The opening of our in-house moulding facility is a major milestone for the company. The first time this has been done in Oyster’s history, this facility and the accreditation which comes with it is fantastic news. We place huge importance on the high-quality performance and build quality of our yachts, and of course safety is paramount.
“The Lloyd's Register certification of our yachts ensures we remain at the forefront of the blue-water cruising industry, as we continue to innovate and provide best-in-class service. We are also delighted to provide a further 23 jobs for the Norfolk area, underlining our commitment to the local communities in which we operate. As Oyster owners adventure with their yachts all over the globe, they can place absolute trust in the craftsmanship and expertise of our British boat-builders, who we believe are the best in the world.”
