The Role:

To manage Oyster Composites Technology facility in Ashmanhaugh Norfolk and to be the composite expert across the Oyster Group.

 Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the supply, scheduling, quality control and transportation of mouldings to Oyster’s shipyards in Norfolk and Hampshire.
  • Strategic planning for the supply and delivery of main and ancillary mouldings.
  • Ensure that the composite facility operates to the highest quality standard and to Lloyds and DNV/GL accredited standards at all times.
  • Ensure the Ashmanhaugh facility is maintained to world class standards by utilisation of 6S principles and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Responsibility for cost and delivery of the moulding facility and main mould tools.
  • Effective problem solving to improve quality, cost and delivery of the mouldings.
  • Feedback to the Design Team on changes and ideas to reduce the overall cost / mould cycle time of each model, this to include materials selection.
  • Work closely with Production management to ensure schedule adherence for boats in plan.
  • Partner and collaborate with Group Supply Chain to ensure that delivery requirements (all materials) are planned and communicated.
  • Comprehensive line management of Composite leads/supervisors involving regular 1:1s, feedback on performance and identification of training needs, where appropriate.
  • Ensure Health and Safety policies are acceptable and adhered to by our employees and visitors to protect their safety.

 Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of composites in both wet laminations and infusion
  • In-depth knowledge of Infusion technology
  • Detailed understanding of Engineering drawings
  • Health and Safety legislation application in Production facility and specifically for mouldings
  • Working knowledge of NX design software (desirable) and AutoCAD design

 Skills

  • Strong communicator with Production Team and Senior Management
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across sites and functions

 Experience

  • Management of moulding facility with a proven track record of leading and developing teams
  • Experience of working to specific standards i.e. requirements of ISO14001 environment standard
  • Proven track record of delivering against KPIs, specifically output quality and on time delivery
  • Supplier and contractor management

 Qualifications

  • BEng Composites Materials
  • Infusion technology specific qualification/certification

 Other Requirements

  • Driving license
  • Able to travel between sites – on average once a month
