If so, we have a great opportunity for a highly experienced Engineering Team Leader.

The Engineering Team Leader will report to the Engineering Manager in Southampton. This post will be responsible for leading, motivating and developing a team of Engineers for the duration of a project, focusing on the build of the engineering systems in Oyster Yachts.

Principle Job Responsibilities

To manage a team of Engineers and ensure the build of engineering systems is carried out to the Oyster standard and within set targets.

                                                                                                                                                                       

General Requirements of the Role

 

  • In collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Head of Production, be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Engineering team and assignment of resources to meet the build plan.
  • Work closely with other trades during fit out phases of the build.
  • Ensure the build of the engineering systems meets the requirements of the issued drawings and Master Work lists.
  • Ensure engineering systems and components are installed to the correct Oyster standards and quality.
  • Follow process and procedure to provide feedback to all departments especially the Design, Project Management and Procurement Departments.
  • Be an advocate for Health & Safety awareness, by leading by example and ensuring that the team is consistently following H&S requirements. Deliver Toolbox talks as requested.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and engineering techniques.
  • Deliver to the build plan and to ensure a smooth transition into the Testing phase of the build plan.
  • Communicating and delivering to additional targets as required by the Engineering Manager.
  • To be responsible for training and development of apprentices in accordance with the apprentice training program.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required in support of the Engineering Manager.

The Person

Essential

  • Relevant C&G Qualifications or equivalent
  • Robust marine engineering knowledge within the yacht building industry
  • Previous experience in the construction of GRP boats
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven track record of motivating and developing others.

Desirable

  • Experience of managing a team
  • Understanding of Oyster yachts
  • IT Skills
